Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is an Emirati low-cost airline based at Zayed International Airport, UAE. Currently the airline has a all airbus fleet size of 13 flying to 30 destinations in the Middle East and Europe.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi was formed on 12 December 2019, based at Zayed International Airport, offering low cost flights from the airport to tap into growth markets across the Middle East, Africa, and the Indian subcontinent. The airline is a joint venture with state-owned Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADQ) (formerly, Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company, (ADDH), which owns 51 percent with Wizz Air Holdings owning the remaining 49 percent.Flights began in November 2020 with two Airbus A321neo aircraft, rising to 50 over the next few years.
In July of 2020, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi unveiled its inaugural route network, commencing operations with 6 destinations originating from its hub in Abu Dhabi. In a conversation, Jozsef Váradi, Wizz Air’s CEO, expressed the possibility of the airline’s fleet expanding to 100 aircraft within the next 15 years.
Following the outlined schedule, in April 2021, Wizz Air successfully incorporated Abu Dhabi into its service portfolio, facilitating connections to European destinations extending beyond the UAE to neighboring Arab countries.
